I have then gone a step further, and folded the fanzine once more in half so that the images become more cut off, and abstract. I have then added type over the top. Unfotunately I spelt the word wrong though. I will go back and get some photocopies tomorrow and re-do it.

From the photocopies I have made a little booklet fanzine, that is double sided and folds out to A3. I think it works well and enjoyed making it as the images become abstract and unrecognisable until you fold out the page completely.

John D McHugh has been taking photographs at the Pearl Roundabout where the focus of protests are in Bahrain. Here are some of the photographs he has taken. Original of the tracing with we used to wait drawn over the top.
Then I scanned it into illustrator and edited it slightly. Would be interesting to develop and experiment with this idea further by using silkscreen printing.
In a way I prefer the original one to the edited one on illustrator because of the roughness of it, and the way the masking tape can be seen.

Tomorrow I am doing a workshop on fanzines where I will create a A2 poster that will fold down into a fanzine/booklet. I want to use it as an idea for my self directed project rather than a separate piece of work.I am quite intested in perhaps using the song names somehow for this.

PROTEST.
So last Saturday (11th March) I went down to the meeting place for all the protestors. Wasn’t sure what to expect as I hadn’t been to one before, but was quite excited to get involved.
I’ve carried on drawing out the quote. I could have done this on the computer using but I have always found that by drawing things out it helps me to think of ideas, and it also made me think of how to lay out the type.

I’ve always been interested in using a photocopier/scanner to manipulate my work as it produces some interesting outcomes and is so quick to do and so I have just had a quick go using my scanner. I hope to use a photocopier and enlarge my images more, and then manipulate them once enlarged. Using the word ‘lives’ in the Arabic font I have tried to elongate it.
